Professional work

I have had a 30+ year career in technical communication, content strategy, and information design, during which I wrote, edited, designed, developed, and delivered a wide range of technical and business documents for employers and clients in many industry sectors, primarily in software development and the financial sector.

From 2005 to 2015 I was also a part-time Associate Lecturer for the distance-learning MA in Technical Communication course at Sheffield Hallam University.

I was a volunteer Council Member of the Institute of Scientific and Technical Communicators, and I chaired TCUK, the UK’s leading annual conference for Technical Communication professionals, for four years (2012-2015). Subsequently I was Council Member responsible for Professional Development and Recognition, which included education, training and CPD.

My professional goal is to help companies and teams create better technical content for their customers and staff. I am now retired, but I do take on ad hoc consulting projects or short-term contract work from time to time. If you have a project or role that might interest me you can get in touch via the Contact page.
